QUALITY TESTING

At least 5 cycling shorts are needed for a trip...they can only wash clothes in certain places where they will have enough water... so one of the most important thing to test before the trip is the quality of the cycling shorts... This short was suppose to be excellent for long distance cycling trips, but after few hours on the saddle Gerald got sores, the soft patch is slightly too small and the sewing is not good quality and these thing can only be found out, ones tried on the bicycle for few hours...

TRAVEL READING

At the "Le Vieux Campeur" book and map shop Gerald found travel books and more maps...This shop is like Ali Baba's Cave, a travellers dream shop for all kind of maps...

FIRST AID

During the trip there will be medical personal travelling with them, but it is always good to have some first aid items...like first aid kit, tent repair kit, survival aluminium cover also Gerald bought some wipes to clean himself if there is no water available for shower...

USEFUL ITEMS

Spare tyres for the bicycle, a spade and electrical plug adapters for different countries that I will travel...I have also a solar energy panel and a extra battery that can be charged by the solar energy...

BIGGER TENT

So the next day we went back to the shop and Gerald exchange his 2 persons tent to a family tent... now the tent was so big that we had to open the balcony door to get more space while putting the tent up... "Hey come to visit me in Paris...you can sleep in my tent"...

TESTING THE TENT

Here Gerald testing his new tent in a small flat...he seems to be happy about the mattress and the sleeping bag but the tent is too small to keep his bicycle in during the night...

AU VIEUX CAMPEUR

Au Vieux Campeur is a paradise for all kind of sport gear... The shops are situated in the "Quartier Latin" near Sorbonne University, there are at least 10 shops all have special outdoor sport equipment, tents for Himalaya etc...Here Gerald is looking for a sleeping bag and for a good mattress...Something light but comfortable...
